So, I am really going to try to make sure this doesn’t just become a review site, but I love these caps so much I wanted to do a shout out to the Boston Scally Company.
I don’t like wearing hats. I have a huge, size 8 head, and even size 8 hats sometimes are uncomfortably tight. Adjustable hats are horrible, because it is almost always at the far end of their adjustability.
Don’t let them fool you. One size does not fit all. 🙂
The first time I saw a Boston Scally cap was via a Facebook ad, and I didn’t buy it because $50 seemed too much for a hat. However, when they came out with the ‘Black Rose’ Plaid Peaky Boston Scally Cap, I couldn’t help myself and grabbed my first. The rest, as they say, is history.
Please check out the review to see four different styles…and please forgive me for not using a wind muff. 🙂
Oh, and grab one for yourself at https://bostonscally.com.
P.S. The Boston Scally Company also has awesome customer service.

Thanks for the video review. I would be a first-time buyer. I’m the opposite size of you (5’0″ and a smallish head). I therefore need something more form-fitting, without excess fabric. Do you have a style of Scally Cap that you would recommend over others? Thanks!

Hi Patrick,
Depends on where you live, but if it gets cold like it does here, I’d go with the original cap I got (Black Rose):

The lightest one I have (and which may be my wife’s favorite) is this (The Bruiser):

In the end, I love all my different Scally Caps for different reasons (I have a half dozen), so I’d get choose one that you like the color, fabric, and style of and order it. You almost definitely will love it…and if you don’t…their customer service is responsive.
Please let me know what you get and what you think of it.
My best,
Alan

Thanks — I live in Atlanta, so we get four seasons (but nothing like either Boston or Denver!). Appreciated. Patrick

So . . . just got my first Scally Cap — Bourbon in Royal Rye Plaid. It’s the first hat I’ve ever worn that makes me look better than without! I placed an order for three more and they’re on the way. Thanks for your review, because it resulted in a satisfied customer.

That’s awesome Patrick! And, I’m like you…better lookin’ with the cap on than with it off. 🙂
BTW, if you ever want to use a Boston Scally Cap with a GoPro, I recently did a video on how to attach it:

Congrats on the purchase. I have another one on the way too (I think that’ll be number 8).

My first opinion of this company was great, but now I can honestly say that I would not recommend this company. I ordered from them in November. On 11/21 they took their $ from my account. However they never mailed the package until 12/3. Here it is 1/7. I still have no product. I have had many back and forths with them. No one knows where my package is. The post office has no record of my package even being released to them. Boston Scally assures me it was sent. I told them I wanted a refund since its been over a month and half since they received their $ and over a month since they supposedly shipped my package. They gave me a refund for $7.49, they said they refunded my shipping cost. Thats not what I wanted and I told them that. They said they are sure that mybpackage will arrive. Well since I live 10 hours from where they are and the fact that they have had their $ for a month and a half and I still have no product, is really not ok. This was a christmas gift. They sent me a certificate to give as the gift. Then they said they would take 10% off, later they said 20%. Other than the shipping refund I haven’t received 10 or 20% back. I want a full refund and they can recall the package. I don’t think it’s fair that I have to play track a package especially when the USPS says they have no record of it being released to them or where it could be and Boston Scally can’t locate my package either.

Interesting, I’m going through the same thing, reason I am on this site. I am looking for answers since they aren’t answering my question, where are my two hats. Company has not offered any help or discounts. I keep getting a generic and repeating email. I hope all works out for you. I’m to concerned this company will not do the right thing.

I own five scally caps and I actually have five in my cart but I’m always so very apprehensive when they get here because Boston scally’s size is so inconsistent I just received the Patriot blue herringbone in my size I had to wrap that sticky foam tape quarter inch thick the whole way around the inside of the hat now it fits I wish there was another company that made hats as nice as these I would definitely give them a serious look as a matter of fact I do look regularly on Facebook but I like Boston scally. Come on guys get your sizing right. I have three are a perfect fit to our tape the whole way around the inside what’s up with that?
JegErAlan says
I agree that the sizing is off now-and-then. I always get the largest size, and I wouldn’t say they are ever too loose…but one is definitely way to tight and a couple/few a bit tight.
But I still am a huge fan overall. 🙂
Thanks for commenting!

I cannot help you myself Larry, but I have found them always to be responsive when I e-mailed them at info@bostonscally.com. Is that how you tried to contact them?

I have a 24” head. What size cap would you recommend? I have read some pretty bad reviews, but yours was great.
JegErAlan says
Converting inches to centimeters, you fall between X-Large and XX-Large, so unless you like a really tight cap, I’d go with XX-Large. 🙂
(Your head is 61 cm and the XX-Large is 62 cm. The X-Large is 60 cm.)
I love the hats…I may be up to 13 of them. I cannot promise you will agree, but hope you’ll like them as much as I do.

I ordered a hat for my son n law for Christmas in Late October .from Scally from FB. I opened the box late Nivember to get ready to wrap. My son n law wears similar hats every day. Scally hats have no lining and are so thin on top. The wool was wrinkled. They said I could steam, then they said it ha been over 30 days No Exchange or Refund. I plan on letting everyone on FB know the poor quality of the wool hat and how I was treared
JegErAlan says
I’m sorry the hat isn’t what you hoped for.
I’m not sure what model you purchased, but most do have linings.
Either way, I hope the rest of your holiday season goes well.
